What is not supported
Describes RotoSpider Desktop 0.8.20 · checked 2026-10-10 D5
These limits concern the workbook. RotoSpider plans mold layouts. Production dates, orders and stock belong in the separate RotoScheduler program.
Sharing data with a production plan
| What is not supported | What you will see, and what to do |
|---|---|
| Editing shared mold and arm facts in RotoScheduler, or writing them back from a plan | Keep mold names, sizes, shapes, weights, copies, parts per cycle, materials and process classes in RotoSpider's workbook. Keep arm geometry and maximum load there too. RotoScheduler shows these facts read-only. Save changes here, then take and apply them in RotoScheduler. See Prepare the master data workbook. |
| A workbook save changing a production plan automatically | The plan keeps its previous facts until its planner uses Take from masterdata in Factory inputs and then Apply. Arrange that step with the planner after saving. Work that no longer fits can come off the plan; protected dispatched work can prevent the change. |
| Two people editing the workbook or plan at once | A save may be refused if the file changed or the plan is already in use. Finish one person's edit before the next person opens it. |
| A workbook color replacing the color of a mold already in the plan | The planner keeps RotoScheduler's own colors. Only a mold newly added by the take starts with its workbook color. Change an existing plan color in RotoScheduler's Factory inputs. |
| Taking every setting or stock figure into RotoScheduler | The take reads the minimum and target mold-to-mold clearance from the shared settings, not the other layout settings. The workbook's minimum stock is not read into the plan, and the workbook has no good-share column. The planner sets product stock rules and mold good share in RotoScheduler and records stock counts there. See Set the clearances your factory works with. |
Workbook rows that need attention
- A mold without positive dimensions or weight, or with a saved shape unavailable on the computer, is left out of RotoScheduler's take. Its row number, name and reason are listed. Complete the row or restore the workbook's shape files, then ask the planner to take again.
- An unnamed mold or two molds with the same name make the plan's
Applyfail. Give each mold one nonempty, unique name before the take. - Renaming a workbook mold makes a new mold in RotoScheduler. Its products still name the old mold until the planner selects the correct one. Agree the rename with the planner. Removing a mold or reducing its copies can also be refused if opening mounted molds, a stated machine cycle time or a recorded pairing still names it; keep that data until the corresponding plan facts are corrected.
- A machine model matches by exact text, and the workbook must describe the selected arm type. Without that match, RotoScheduler keeps its previous arm geometry. Keep the model text consistent between the two programs; after changing a machine model or arm type in RotoScheduler, apply that edit, reopen the inputs and take again. See Set up a machine and its arms.
- Text in the minimum-machine field, such as a model name with an arm suffix, does not become a machine restriction in RotoScheduler. The planner must set the orders' allowed machines.
Files, samples and support
- A supplied production-planning sample is for trying RotoScheduler's screens. Its orders and stock rules are examples, not your order book or counted stock. Open RotoScheduler to try it; creating a layout in RotoSpider does not create a production plan. Starting RotoScheduler with no molds or machine-days is not supported; use its supplied sample.
Undoin RotoScheduler does not restore the inputs from before a take was applied. Save the plan before changing shared facts. Keep a copy of the workbook before editing it as well.- A support recording belongs to the version that recorded it. Send the report and that version number. Replaying an older recording with a newer program is not supported.
- A canceled RotoScheduler take that first introduced a new shape cannot be replayed reliably from its report. Send a screenshot and describe the canceled action to support. Save shared settings before starting a new RotoScheduler session; changing them during that session can make the report replay with different settings.
- If RotoScheduler has no workbook to take, the command fails and a recorded session's report becomes incomplete. Restore the supplied workbook and shape files, restart RotoScheduler, then retry.
