Notes that stay

Describes RotoScheduler 0.3.3 · checked 2026-10-16 D5

Write what the plan cannot check: the resin comes on Thursday, a mold copy leaks, or the crane is booked. A note changes no light and blocks nothing.

Write a note

  1. Select a production job on its card, a mold run on the board, or a machine-day box.
  2. Type in Note in that selection's section of the inspector. A job's note belongs to that order's or stock rule's job. A run's note belongs to its mold and is shared by every run of that mold. A machine-day's note belongs to that date on that machine.
  3. Click outside the field to save. Clear the text to remove the note; spaces alone also remove it. Each note can hold up to 2,000 characters.

If the inspector shows a machine-day beside a job or a run, use the Note field under the heading for the one you mean.

Read it on the board and sheet

A job's note appears below its product on the card. A mold band or a day box with a note has a small corner mark; hover over it to read the note.

The machine-day's CSV or Excel sheet has a Notes row just after its heading when there is a day or mold note. It lists the day's note first, then each mold's note once in the sheet's mold order. Jobs' notes do not print on that sheet. The machine-day sheets inside a week workbook carry the same row. See Export a machine-day or a week.

What keeps it

Notes stay through edits, Undo, Redo, Generate, dispatch, Take back, counts, deliveries, daily entries, stops, mold-copy records and Factory inputs Apply. Save and reopen the plan to keep its notes with the file. Opening a named version keeps the notes currently in use; the version holds the plan only.

A machine renamed in Factory inputs leaves its days' notes behind, and an import starts a new plan without notes. Notes are edited in place, outside Undo and Redo; text still being typed when the window closes, or when Escape clears the selection, is not saved. See What is not supported for the limits.
